Is Spray Foam Insulation Safe?

Spray Polyurethane Foam Insulation is considered to be safe to be around without protection by the EPA once the material is properly cured. For installation, it is necessary to wear proper protection- i.e. full body Microporous Spray Suit, head sock, nitrile gloves, full face respirator with face shield and 3M vapor cartridge. Please visit the Resources Page for all safety documentation.

What is the difference Between Open Cell Foam and Closed Cell Foam?

Closed cell foam typically has a higher R-value compared to Open Cell Foam. Closed Cell comes in at around 6.0 per inch sprayed compared to open cell which is closer to 3.7 per inch spayed. That being said, open cell foam is the perfect choice for interior projects that have difficult to reach areas due to it’s natural expanding property.

What type of jobs should I use Closed cell foam for?

Closed cell foam is designed for use in commercial, residental and industrial applications or more speciffically in lieu of more traditional types of insulation such as fiberglass, cellulose, and other loose-fill products. Typical applications include exterior walls, vented attics, unvented attic assembalies, between floors, foundations, crawlspaces, HVAC ducts, fluid ducts, fluid tanks and cold storage units.

What type of jobs should I use Open Cell Foam for?

Due to Open Cell Foam’s flexable nature- even after curing- it is uniquely able to stay affixed to the surface to which it was origionally applied even as the home/building shifts and moves over time. This quality makes it the perfect addition to walls, ventilated crawlspaces, attics, ceillings, ducts, and other interior applications.

Waterproof and capable of expanding 5-7 times its volume, it makes an extremley effective secondary roof covering over metal roofs, modified bitumen roofs, BUR, concrete and spray urethanefoam, and also makes a great Polyurea membane for foundation walls before theyre backfilled with dirt.
